Composition
Two commissioners represent the North Ward, two represent the South Ward, and one is elected At-Large. The Mayor presides at meetings and votes only to break a tie. The Mayor Pro Tem is elected by the Board from among its members.
What the Board does
- Adopts the annual budget and sets the tax rate
- Enacts and amends city ordinances
- Approves major purchases and contracts
- Appoints citizens to boards and commissions
- Sets long-range priorities for city staff
